Star Naples Chapter 308 Ride

Sunday January 15, 2006 I went with the Star Touring & Riding Chapter 308 out of Naples, Florida. I left Ft Myers around 7:15am, it was 38 degrees outside. Since I left all my winter coats and my leather coat up north in Pa I had to dress in layers. I put on a shirt and 2 sweat shirts, my Star Leather Vest and my Mesh Joe Rocket Riding Jacket and my leather riding chaps for the ride. I went down Rt 41 and for that early it was empty! Normally this road is packed with cars and I hardly saw a car at all for the 30 min. ride.

I arove about 45 minutes early. I met everyone that was there. The President, Barry, was the first to arive. He told me that most would not ride because of the cold and that there will be a bigger turn out come the Feb 12th ride to Venice. The bad part for me is that I will be on the second day of our Disney cruise that day. Nine people showed up on 8 bikes. One Couple road a touring R1200 LT BMW, another rode a 2002 Honda Gold Wing, another on a Honda Shadow, another road a touring Yamaha Venture, 3 road RoadStars and me on my 1100 V-Star.

We road some back roads to go to a Country Dinner for Breakfast. I had eggs, grits and hot coco. The ride to there was great. We went down roads that had sweeping turns. I didn't think SW Fla. had roads like this. Also along the ride was ranches. I saw Horse and Cattle Farms/ranches. These were well kept and I really liked riding by them.

Coming home I rode back with them to Naples and them back up RT41. Then the traffic was getting heavy. Kandi called on the Cell Phone for me to meet them at the Wind Jammer Resturant on Mc Gregor. I told her I would be there in 15 to 20 minutes later and for her to go ahead and order for me. I battled traffic the hole time and took a wrong turn on Mc Gregor. When I got there over an hour later everyone was about finished eating. Kandi had the watter box everything up for me. I ate it out of the box and still finished before them! Kandi ordered me Fried Grouper and rice.

I got on my bike to ride home to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Colts in the Playoff game. What topped off a good day was the Steelers winning the football game. Now I just have to wait until this Sunday to see if the Steelersb eat Denver in the AFC Championship game to see which one goes to the Super Bowl.

I will be taking Jordan a ride down Mc Gregor to take some movie photos and then send them back home to Shade Gap on a DVD of Christmas, us on a boat ride with Leroy and then the ride down Mc Gregor.
