Ft Myers Bike Night

On January 21, 2006 Ft Myers had their Bike Night. This was the largest Bike night that I ever went too. Danny and I rode down to downtown Ft Myers for Bike Night. There most of been over 10,000 people there. Motorcycle were parked on both sides of the street and also in the middle of the street. We saw many bikes that we liked. There was a lady who rode in on a Boss Hoss 2 wheeler. It had a 350 Corvette engine in it! But the most amazing thing was the rear end was a 1963 Corvette! I never saw anything like it before. We also listen to two different Classic Rock bands that were playing in the streets.

Leaving downtown Ft Myers, Danny and I decided to go to Ft Myers Beach. We had to follow people in their cars going very slow. We came up on a guy hauling his girl on the back of his BMW. He was going slower than the speed limit. After having to follow him for a few miles we hit 4 lanes so we passed the Beamer on the left hand lane. The Beamer driver didn't like us passing him so he jammed on the throttle and went around us. On down the road he slowed down again and we came up again to pass. Danny gunned his throttle and his straight pipes sounded really good as he passed the Beamer. The BMW rider didn't like being showed up and experienced a bad case of road rage and opened up his bike to catch Danny. There was a sweeping left hand turn and the Beamer slowed down to make the turn but Danny on his 1400+cc Harley Davidson didn't slow down. I myself didn't want to be left behind so I dropped down a gear for "more power" and then shifted back into fifth gear. I chased after the two bikes on my 1100 V-Star. I went around the left hand sweeper and was catching up to the 1200cc BMW. When I passed him I was going over 95 mph! He didn't like an American made and a Japan made bikes passing his over priced German bike.

Once we got over the Mantanzas Pass bridge heading onto Estero Island and Ft Myers Beach, we came up on a red light. There was 6 or 7 Sport Bikes reving there throttles. Danny laughed and gunned his throttle. With Danny's straight pipes his bike was much lowder than the Sport Bikes combined! We stopped at the Surf Club and went inside and Danny's boss from the Pink Shell Resort was there. People looked at me wearing my leather vest and thought I was some bad ass biker. I thought it was funny, if they only knew. It was a very good night of having a good time.

VIA Email I found out that the Naples Star Chapter 308 is going on a ride from Naples to Venic, Fl. I really want to go on this ride but it is on Feb 11th which is the day we are leaving for our 7 night long Disney Cruise. I would like to ride to Venice but I can do that another time. I also got an email about another ride. The Peace River Star Chapter is having a Poker Run. Allen didn't know the date but it is some time here in February. April there is 3 motorcycle happenings going on. One is another Ft Myers Bike Night, 1 is Leesburg Bike Weekend and the other is the Florida State Chapters of Star Touring & Riding get together in Lakeland. I wish to go to it but I'll have to wait and see how the money holds out.
