Cold Ride
Here it is the last week of September. Today, Tuesday the 26th, I went to the Altoona VAMC to see Dr. K. I left Cassville at 7:30 am for a 9 am appointment. It was very cold. I was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and my riding gear which is: Leather Chaps, my Hard Rock Cafe of Orlando leather motorcycle jacket, my Harley boots and Joe Rocket motorcycle gloves.
By the time I got out of Cassville and up to speed my face was cold! I wear a 3/4 helmet with a face shield. It was still cold! I stopped at the foot of the mountain outside of Colfax. I got in my hard saddle bags to look for something that could keep my face warm. The only thing I found was my Harley detailing rag! So I put that around my face and both ends under my ear flaps of my helmet. It keep the cold off my face. I arove up at the VA and was told that my appointment was for 10am not 9! Not only could I have gotten another hour sleep, but my ride could have been warmer.
A lesson to be learned here, always wear all the gear and have something along that can also keep you warmer and dryer.
